River City Law Group opened its doors in 2000 and was founded by Andrew P. Geisterfer, who left his job at a large law firm in downtown Edmonton to start his own practice. At that time, Andrew had been concentrating his work on litigation.
Since opening in 2000, River City Law Group expanded steadily and the firm now consists of three lawyers, a Student-at-Law and eight legal assistants and support staff.
Real Estate law has been an area of expertise for River City Law Group, but we also offer a vast range of legal services which include a full array of wills and estate practice, corporate commercial work and litigation of all aspects of law.
Andrew P. Geisterfer
Andrew P. Geisterfer was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1996. He attended the University of Alberta, and obtained a B.A. in Canadian Studies and his L.L.B in 1995. He is also a previous graduate of Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology in London, Ontario, 1982, Ridgetown Agricultural College in 1979 where he received his Ontario Drainage Contractors Certificate.
Andrew began his legal career with a large Edmonton firm in 1996 dealing in various areas of law, but most particularly: bankruptcy and insolvency, debt collection, bank foreclosures and Supreme Court of Canada appeals. He is the founding member of River City Law Group (2000) providing services in Real Estate - Residential and Commercial, Wills and Estates, and Corporate Commercial matters.
Andrew is married and has three children. Andrew has been a member of Rotary International for several years and is a charter member of both the Edmonton Urban Spirits Club as well as a charter member of the Paul Harris Society of District 5370. Andrew is an active member with the Ottewell Christian Reformed Church in Edmonton, where he assists as a member of the board and various other committees. Giving back to the community is a main ingredient to the success of River City Law Group.

Christian carries on a general litigation practice with an emphasis on corporate/commercial disputes, construction, employment, family and debtor/creditor claims. He also practices in the areas of residential real estate and wills & estates.
Christian has appeared before all levels of the Courts in Alberta, including the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal. He has represented clients before the Appeals Commission for Workers' Compensation in Alberta and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. He has acted for parties in mediations and judicial dispute resolutions. Christian joined River City Law Group in 2011 after having practiced law with a national law firm and with Justice Canada. Prior to entering the practice of law, Christian worked for a national broadcaster and for a political organization.

Melanie joined River City Law Group as an articling student and has continued on as an associate since getting called to the Bar in 2013. She earned her law degree from the University of Alberta Law School and holds a BA Honors with Distinction in Spanish and French as well as a MA in Spanish. Melanie is fluent in Spanish and is able to translate, commission and notarize documents for Spanish speaking clients.
Melanie has a particular interest in Wills and Estates, Real Estate, Dependant Adult, and Elder Law. Melanie is married and has two daughters. She is an active member of West End Christian Reformed Church and serves on the Board of Directors of the Christian Senior Citizens Homes Society of Northern Alberta. In her spare time Melanie loves to read, travel, try new recipes out on her husband and daughters and to take her dogs for long walks at the dog park.
